Nourishing Face Mask for Dry Skin
Super-rich mask that will improve texture, lighten age spots and soften fine lines.
Ingredients:

  • cup heavy cream
  • 1 carrot, cooked and mashed
  • 1 avocado, peeled and mashed
  • 3 tbs honey
Combine ingredients in a bowl and apply over face and neck. Relax for 20 min then rinse with cool water.

Papaya Face Peel for Sun-Damaged Skin
Papayas have been part of Hawaiian beauty rituals for centuries. This is a recipe from a holistic spa on the island of Kauai.
Ingredients:
  • 1 packet unflavored gelatin
  • 3 tbs water
  • 1 papaya, peeled and seeded
In a saucepan, combine the gelatin and water and dissolve the gelatin over low heat. Place papaya in a blender and blend thoroughly. Strain and save the liquid. In a small bowl, combine gelatin and papaya juice. Refrigerate for about 20 min or until the gelatin is just beginning to set. Spread gelatin over face and neck and relax for 15 min. Rinse off with a soft sponge or cloth and warm water.

Body Scrub
Body Scrub recipe from Angelina, Owner of Spa Radiance.
Ingredients:
  • kosher salt
  • olive, soy or grape seed oil
  • favorite aromatherapy (lavender, rose, mint)
Mix ingredients and step into the shower (don't turn the shower on) massage the mixture onto dry skin for maximum exfoliation then rinse under warm water and watch the scrub dissolve leaving soft, polished skin behind.

Hair Treatment
Olive oil, honey and lavender conditioning scalp treatment. French recipe from Philippe Tordjman of Au Top Salon on Grant Street.
Ingredients:
  • cup olive oil
  • cup honey
  • 10 drops lavender oil
Over low heat, warm olive oil and honey in a small saucepan. Remove from heat and add lavender oil. Apply to damp hair while the mixture is still warm and massage into scalp. Cover head with shower cap or plastic wrap and leave on for 20 min. Shampoo as usual.

Elbows
Lemon lightener and exfoliant for dry, rough elbows. From my grandmother.
Ingredients:
  • 1 large lemon
  • raw sugar
Cut lemon in and press sugar into the centers of the halves. Sit and relax with your elbows resting in the halved lemons for 20 min. The acids in the sugar and lemons will exfoliate dry skin and lighten dark elbows.

Puffy Eyes
We use this on brides and clients to deflate puffy eyes before makeup application.
Ingredients:
  • cucumber
  • 1 green tea bag
Steep green tea and chill. Slice cucumber and soak in the green tea. Refrigerate. Place over eyes for 10 min before makeup application.
